چکیده

In this paper, we present two translations of the Web Service Policy Framework (WS-Policy) into OWL-DL. First, we provide an overview of existing web policy languages and a general idea of their expressivity. Then we provide a quick introduction to WS-Policy and we argue the benefits of using OWL and RDF to express web service policies. Lastly, we provide two translations from WS-Policy to OWL, one of them representing policies as instances, and the second one as classes.

Representing Web Service Policies in OWL-DL

Recently, there have been a number of proposals for languages for expressing web service constraints and capabilities, with WSPolicy and WSPL leading the way. The proposed languages, although relatively inexpressive, suffer from a lack of formal semantics. In this paper, we provide a mapping of WS-Policy to the description logic fragment species of the Web Ontology Language (OWL-DL), and descri...

WS-Policy and Beyond: Application of OWL Defaults to Web Service Policies

Recently, there has been an increased amount of attention dedicated to WS-Policy it has become a W3C submission and a working group was formed to standardize the specification. In our previous work, we provided a mapping of WS-Policy to OWL-DL. In this paper, we continue that work by analyzing the operation of policy intersection (determining whether two web service policies are compatible). We...

On Extending WS-Policy with Specification of XML Web Service Semantics

Several languages for specification of various aspects of semantics, such as quality of service (QoS), of XML Web services have appeared recently. However, none of them is widely accepted by industry. On the other hand, WS-Policy (a general framework for the specification of policies for Web services) has strong industry support, but currently lacks detailed specification of ontological meaning...

A Compositional Operational Semantics for OWL-S

Design and Application of Rule Based Access Control Policies

Access control is an important issue among the security problems of resources in distributed systems. In order to enable entities in distributed systems to understand and interpret policies correctly, common concern is drawn to the problem of expressing access control policies with semantic information. In this paper, we introduce how to express access control policies based on OWL and SWRL. It...
